Child working at the dump...

WOULD YOU LET THEM COME TO JESUS?

Among the poor children in the Philippine Islands, there is a gradeschool dropout rate of nearly 50%. Poverty and lack of preparation in the preschool education are the most primary reasons. So many kids as young as 10 to 12 years old ended up either in the streets or in the jail together with the hardcore criminals in the same cell. We have seen this with our eyes because we are ministering also in the jails.

Oh, we are overwhelmed with compassion watching the plight of these children. These children are the next generation's hope. We should give them a chance for a brighter future. They should not belong there at the jail ! When one grasps the reality of these facts, we cannot just stand by and pretend we just can't do anything about this.

A local body of believers , had responded to the need. With humble beginnings , more than 22 years ago we had been reaching our school children with the word of God in our school. Then , God has given us gradually given the resources and a better place for classes. J.O.K.M. found dedicated teachers, who poured their hearts, regardless of the meager salary they could receive. We have just recently 107 preschool children who graduated from our school. They have the advantage of having learned what the first grader will learn, and they are the topnotchers of the classes when they enrolled in the elementary school.

We always use school supplies whatever is available even scratch and used school materials. ( Most public schools don't have any textbooks for each pupil , in a crowded classrooms of 60 to 100 pupils at the same time). Barely nothing to be in their hands to use. Our teachers are using whatever we could put together, doing the best with meager items. Always praying, and sharing Christ and His love with the children and instilling hope in them for a better way of life for their adult years.

With the growth for the school and recognition that we have gained from the community, the government wants us to secure a permanent permit which means we have to meet the standard requirements. One those requirements we face is to have a 500 sq Meters of space for us to continue operating or else they will order closure of the school. ( That means we can no longer open the other school ( Lapasan school this coming June. ) if we can't overcome this obstacles

This school is in strategic location in a suburb of CDO, where it is close to the poor families and muslim communities. Letting them to know Christ is our passion and making a difference to our generation is our vision.

Please pray with us for such a powerful breakthrough of our school outreach for we believe that the word of the Lord will come to pass.

Last school year, we had given free education to 30 street kids and children from under the bridge and garbage dump aside from the paying students we had also. 107 children had been touched by our school attaining the quality christian education and values formation.

We are not just another school. We become the arms of Jesus to embrace these children with His love for He said, Let the children come unto me for theirs is the Kingdom also. Would you please help us to let them come to Jesus?
