This is My Cup, drink all of it!
How often have we sang the old hymn, "Here's my cup Lord, fill it up Lord"?
This is, of course, all about us. We are thirsty, we want more poured into our cup. We want something that will quench the thirsting of our soul. And of course, we have seen a quenching come, in some small way, that seems to help us for a time. But have you ever wondered how we could be filled on a regular basis? Perhaps daily!
I've found, that tasting of a new depth of God, has always followed correction or rebuke. "The scripture is for instruction, correction, rebuke, edification. but seldom do we want the rebuke part, much less the correction. So if you are like this, don't even bother reading on. However, if you want to taste and see that the Lord is Good, follow me in a short journey through the Scripture.
A season ago, I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day. He said to me, "My people are always coming to me, extending their cup and asking me to fill it. They even sing a song about it, Here's my cup Lord, Fill it up Lord.... Why is it, that they will never take the cup that I have extended to them, and drink of it?"
I was a bit perplexed about His statement. "Lord, " I replied, "what cup are you referring to?"
He said, "Is it not written (His usual way of correcting me - with the written word) Is it not written, Matt 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it.(KJV)
So I began to ponder this cup, that He had offered to His disciples. In my thoughts, He was Jesus, the SAME yesterday, today, and forever. He never changed. What He extended yesterday, is still extended, and will be forever. He went on to say, "I will not drink it with you until I can drink with you in the Kingdom."
In my years of following after Him, it has been beneficial for me to look and see in the Kingdom of God, those things that He is pointing out. Some people claim they do their whole walk by faith. Folks, my faith has brought me experience after experience. If it doesn't, I've found that most of it has not been faith. We've taken a scripture out of context, about walking by faith, and not by sight (or feelings) that was declared concerning the redemption of out bodies, and used it to govern our entire walk with the Spirit. Faith, is a substance that will produce results. It is like a hand inside you, that can perform things. In the Old Testament, the hand was used frequently. In the New Testament, faith is used. One is the shadow and type, the other is the real. Abraham looked afar off, and saw a city, whose builder and maker was God.
He wasn't stumbling around blindly. He had LOOKED and SEEN!
So I just took a look see..... I saw Jesus at the Last Supper with His team! His students! After the meal, He takes His cup, and gives it to them to drink. WOW.... Hadn't thought about that in that light before. He is the SAME today. The cup is still extended.
So, I reached out my faith (hand) and took that cup He was offering to me. I drank it slowly. All of it. When I looked back at Him, He was still holding out that cup. So I took it again. Soon, I was feeling quite happy. Giddy, if you will. Suddenly, all that I had drank, took effect. What an incredible experience. I was FILLED with the Spirit. Talking in tongues, glorifying God.
We're always waiting on God. He's waiting on us for many things as well. How often have you reached out and taken the cup? Perhaps you should try it.
A woman in Wadena was a bit puzzled by my sharing about how easy it was to partake of the Spirit this way. I sat down with her and began to help her use her spiritual abilities to SEE and to TAKE. In a very short while, she had drank of the Lord's cup. Oh, I wish you could have seen her. Glowing with the Spirit. Intoxicated with His divine presence. "This is so simple," she said to me when she could finally talk. You see, she had gone so long in a dry place, when the substance given by God was always present for her. She just had not looked, seen, taken.
I encourage you that are reading this page. Look. See. Take. Drink. There's plenty for all!
