Our goal, has been to keep it simple. Feed those in need. Some are already malnourished, some are from familys who simply do not have the means to feed their children. In the beginning, we took what funds we had available, perhaps $100 per month, sought out the cost of minimum food with the most food value. Then we found a site to do our feeding. And then we began to select those who would be eligible to receive the meals.
Served once a day near mid-day, 25 mothers brought their children and saw them being fed. While the food was being prepared by one worker, another worker shared with the mothers the great love that God has for them. As God's love was shared, demonstrated with the free meal, understanding was given to them about God's free salvation through Jesus. Many have come to God the Father, through placing their faith in His Loving Son, Jesus.
When parents are able to feed their children properly, they are released from the programs and others are selected to take their place. In this way, we are not over burdenedand are able to continue our service of love.
Our initial site was in a new suburb of CDO, were there were many in need.
You might ask, "Remi, how can you feed 25 children for $100 a month?" Most helping hand organizations need $20-$30 per month per child. Most of our help is voluntary. We felt that the money given, should be handled with good stewardship. My life is maintained. This is what's spent on food itself. And of course, we don't spend Millions on advertising. Perhaps we could feed more if we did. Perhaps they know the correct way. We only know that we've been able to feed this many children with this amount of money. The most we can reach, with what we have. This is what we do. Remember, I started doing this with $25 a month.
Inflation in the Philippine Islands has been tremendous. Multitudes are going without proper food on a daily basis. we've felt the weight in our own foodshelf. We cannot purchase what we used to purchase with the same amount of money. But this we do know, it is God who provides the "seed to sow, and the bread to eat!" We will continue to sow what we are given, and we will distribute bread to eat as long as we have provision.
